A crash in Genesee County on Saturday killed a 69-year-old woman, according to police reports. The crash occurred on North Byron Road in Elba – the site of another fatal crash just one year ago. The woman apparently lost control of her Toyota Highlander, veered off the roadway and crashed into a tree. She was rushed to a local hospital, where doctors pronounced her dead at around 6 p.m. The cause of the accident is under investigation by police.
Accidents like this are tragic. Often, the grieving family wants someone held accountable for their loved one’s death. Even in single-vehicle accidents, it may be possible to file a wrongful death lawsuit to bring the responsible parties to justice. Single-vehicle accidents are not always the fault of the driver. In some crashes, other factors, such as lack of proper signage, a section of road or guard rail in disrepair, or a malfunctioning vehicle or defective tires, may be responsible for the death. Anyone who has lost someone they love in an accident in New York should consult with an experienced injury attorney to discuss their case and explore their legal options.
